I've never noticed these birds until this week. I'm not sure of the id of the birds, or even if the bird in the tree is the same as the pond ducks, but it seemed to be giving orders to the group in the pond.

Correct on the Hooded Mergansers, and the second is Belted King Fisher I believe.

Thank you both for the comments and id's. The kingfisher is also a bird I have never seen in person before. This has been a banner day.

Great shots. The kingfisher is from my experiance a difficult bird to capture, they fly to fast and so low you sometimes just get a flash as the pass your lens
