I am looking to buy a remote switch for my 20D but have found that the one made by Canon is rediculously expensive so I was wondering if there was an 'off brand' that you could suggest and where I could find it?

20D, 17-85 kit lens, 70-200 F4, 50 1.4, Amvona AT CF 994 Tripod, Manrotto Monopod that I have never used and a 580EX Flash

I had an ADIDT for my Nikon D200 which worked very well. It came with a 15 foot cord and cost me something like $12.00. I got it off of eBay. If you search eBay for Canon ADIDT, you will get dozens of hits. Don't expect a flashy product or packaging, but you do get a product that is inexpensive and works well.

HKSupplies also sells a remote that works wonderfully with the D series canons. Their user ID is etefore. I have done loads of business with them over the last two years and have had nothing but excellent products, great service and fast shipping.

Thanks. I just searched on Ebay and found exactly what you are talking about. I think I'm going to buy it from them but I have a question. From the time you ordered it how long did it take before you got it?

I've never had to wait more than 9 days. I know that seems like a long time, but it is coming from Hong Kong. Some things have gotten here sooner than that.
You could post the seller a question and ask him about estimated delivery times.

I might just do that. Thanks for the tip. I didn't want to spend 50+ bucks on The Canon one.

The Canon switch IS ridiculously expensive but quite well made. I'm not too keen on the Adidt version, it works well enough and is inexpensive but just feels cheap. I've seen another one on ebay recently (just do a search for nova remote) that looks to be a lot better. Nowhere near as expensive as the Canon but appears to be quite well made. It's certailnly worth a look anyway.

cheers
Bill

That Nova remote does look like a nice unit. Thanks for sharing.
