I am in for any day as long as its weekends.
I`m expecting Les up here some time during that period,so i cann`t really tell which date exactly.
I hope Les can make it for that same time.

I`ll vote for Glencoe/Glen Etive also.

About the Saturday / Sunday though , not so much for me as i`ll be there probably for the whole weekend but...is it not better for that presise weekend to check the weather first?
I mean,Saturday might not be nice and Sunday gorgeous, wouldn`t it be a bit daft to be there the wrong day, especially for the ones who are on a learning curve?
Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the heads up PM Mike ;)

I would love to go back to Glencoe again and am OK for all dates although I am in Northampton on a training course the week preceding the January dates so the Mrs might not be too chuffed when I've been away all week.

Last week of Feb is out for me in case it gets added as I'll be visiting the folks in England.

Hi Guys :)

I'd love to come along, the only dates from the ones specified I can manage is the 3rd/4th February ones.

No hassles if that doesn't suit everyone in the long run and I don't make it, I have quite a few Landscape outings planned over the next wee while and you lot usually jinx the weather anyway

We now appear to have 12 plus 2 possibles. Why dont we start making some decisions. Here are my thoughts based on what has been said.

Glencoe, 10th or 11th February

Anyone have any input?

I was intending to go to Glencoe around this time, and meeting up with Dimitri anyway, so I'll be up for it, that's depending upon weather.
I'll probably journey up on the Thursday/Friday and stay till monday, luckily the Glencoe caravan site is open all year.

Sorry, meant to do an update but the New Year gales have kept me busy.

Date: Sunday 4th February 2006
Venue: Glencoe/Glen Etive
Meeting Point : ??
Local expert : ??
People:

Well, attendees so far are;-

Lesmac (Les)
da_nige (Neil)
buggbairn (Scottie)
bachscuttler (Steve)
dv2004 (Dimitri)
rudjej (John)
Phideaux - ?
mws3 (Mark)
dsc_1972 (Dave-2!)
phylet - ?
zebedee (Dave)
JPL9639 (John)
Neodude - ?
Mike Bell (Mike)
Ruairidh - obvious

Given that most people appear to be flexible and only Scottie has specified actual dates (Neil, I read that as he could ONLY make the 3rd/4th), also avoids any possible conflict with Mike's wife's birthday !! Initially, we'll plumb for Sunday (4th) but this may change or sprout mini-meets if Saturday's weather is better.

As for location it is looking like a return trip to Glencoe, but I like Dimitri's suggestion of Loch Etive (assume you mean the bottom end).

Post any suggestions/changes here or PM me.

Cheers,

Ruairidh

We've got to have Scottie! So I agree with the suggestion of 3rd/4th february. That weekend suits me best actually and if the forecast is particularly good I might go up for the whole weekend. :)

That's just virgin on the believable!
Sunday 4th, Glencoe suits fine. £rd possible but need to know by preceding Wednesday so I can opt out of Saturday's hockey match.
JR, we could make this an overnighter if you're keen (and as it's your turn to drive - bigger car and all that)

Some data for Sunday 4th Feb:
Sunrise is at 8.15am, direction 120 degrees.
Sunset is at 4.50pm, direction 240 degrees - which is roughly along the line of Glen Etive as it goes down to Loch Etive. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? ;)
Pssst! Guys! How many virgins did we agree we would sacrifice this time?

Damn! :( It turns out with work schedules that the only day I can make is the 11th Feb! and possibly 28th but I'd have to swap on-call with someone for both days. I can't make a whole weekend for any of them :( I'll try to work out something though for 4th to get up there at some point when it's light ;)

An overnighter might be a good idea. Do you mean to sleep in my car, or just that it is my turn to drive?

Is it how far to the nearest coffee shop?
