A little OOF and I would like to see their faces and a tighter crop...

I love to see eyes and expressions...

They do seem a little soft, however the first one has good timing to it. Perhaps you could try a tighter crop to it.

Not that I have shot (American) football, but the theory is the same for all sports, I would like to be able to see the whites of their eyes too!

Were these taken on the hill?

These were taken from the sidelines at Legion Field in Birmingham. I assume the hill would be at the A&M campus in Huntsville?

The first photo is much more compelling as the action appears to be coming toward the viewer while the action seems to be moving away (with only the backs viewable on the second. The nice thing about the second photo is the way in which the motion is stopped and the A&M players are captured in mid-fall and mid-cut.

What camera and lens were you using? Which settings?
