Deadhorse: Crumpler 6MDH vs. 7MDH?

Sorry to beat this topic to death, I've been through the archives, through crumplers site, and through the cambags review site. What I'm looking for is a comfortable shoulderbag that doesn't scream cambag and is highly workable. I'm currently using a backpack and for some shooting situations it's certainly not ideal.

What I want to fit:
Rebel XT w/ grip + Tamron 28-75 attached w/ hood reversed face down
17-40, 70-200, and 430ex. If my 50mm would fit in there that'd be cool but if not it's no deal breaker. I'd love to be able to squeeze the hoods and a GND cokin kit in there.

The 7 million dollar home looks like it definitely has enough room, but I'd love to carry a smaller bag (and pay for a cheaper bag!) if the 6 million will do what I want it to do.

Is there a spot on the side where you could add a sliplock case or anything if one wanted to carry a longer lens?

Any suggestions?

I have tried several shoulder bags and nothing quite works. I just ordered a 7mil. I figured with my luck, if this bag doesn't work, then nothing will!

I think you'll definately fit these in a 7 Mil and infact much more so. I bought a 5 mil (I'm returning for a 6 mil) but in the 5 mil I had a 20D w/ 35L attached, a 580EX, sigma 10-20 (72mm). I could squeek in my tamm 28-75 on top of the sigma, but it didn't feel all that secure. I ordered the 6 mil to just get a bit more in comfortably. I'm sure the 7mil will more then do it for you.

I tried both in the store. Get the 7M, I might pick one up tommorow ($119 CDN at this place near my friends house.) The 6M feels small in comparison.

I've been hearing the 6 will fit, the 7 is too big, you'll need the 7....eeek, don't want something TOO big, but definitely want to comfortable fit it all and have it be workable.

I have the 6M and I fit my 5d, 135, 85L and 35 with one of those attached to the camera--and I would say that that's all there is room for in the 6M and it feels pretty heavy with it all inside. I use the 6m typically with just the camera and one lens as a walk around bag with my light meter inside and a couple of other accessories, a book and a 6"-high water bottle. It certainly a nice size and comfortable with a body and two lenses inside....3 lenses (depending what kind) might be crowding it a bit

I think it's innevitable, 7 million is sure to fit... didn't want to spend the extra cash.

I got the 7MDH today, the 6 just won't suffice, I think for the $30-40 you'll be knocking yourself in the head later for not getting it.

I own both, and bought both within last month. The 6 Million is considerably smaller! I'd go with the 7 Million in your case, and you have room to grow. If you pack it all in so tightly with the 6 Million, it is hard to get things in and out. There are very few places on the outside where they have placed storage "pockets." Those are small, tight, and not user friendly.

A search here where find you the store where I bought for $101 for the 7 Million!!! Best deal anywhere. They don't communicate that well, their supplies are limited, but they did send me a new bag, as ordered, at a great price. I just checked and in the 7 Million, they have one right now, in blue. At checkout, add the promo code @SALE and it will take the price down to $101 shipping included! Cheaper than the 6 Million anywhere else I think. Navigating teh website is not all that great. You can call them for the order, but I never spoke with them or called them.

Thanks Jag and Joegolf, looks like I'll go for the 7MDH to play it safe and have room for everything. Better to be safe than sorry. I think I'll pay the extra and order from B&H only because I'm already placing an order there, will split the shipping, and for sheer convenience.

Next dilema, brown/green or black/grey? haha

I ordered black. Most non-attention attracting color in my opinion. Everyone seems to have a black bag. Then again, brown probably isn't too bad either depending on personal preference.

You cant go wrong with the 7MDH, and it really isnt that big of a bag (actually not as large as I expected it to be). Definately go with the black/grey.....the green colour that Crumpler uses as the interior colour on the brown bag is really ugly

Black I think is the only way to go, although brown is cool.
I picekd mine up for $119 CDN + tax in a shop near my friends place, so look around, you should be able to save money over ordering form bh and all.

Black. I think you will be surprised at how small the 7 MDH is when you get it. Before filled, it seems very small, yet gobbles everything up just fine. When full, it still may not be as big as you would expect, at least mine wasn't to me. For my 6 MDH I went wild and got the RED. It actually looks nice as it is a dark red, not quite burgundy. Of course, I like to wear pink shirts and other pastels when I used to golf. I am secure in my manhood, but I like bright pastel colors, so sue me!

Really? So the 6MDH isn't very big? I love the 7MDH and just figured the 6 would be a touch smaller - perfect for less gear.

LOL! It is true how the 7MDH just seems to take whatever gear you want to fill it with. I was pleasantly surprised!
