Yeah I don't use one on my 10D or 30D. Doesn't really need it ergonomically. Might be handy for the button and/or batteries but I seem to be fine without so far.

i disagree with that, my mum borrowed my 30D with 24-70 attached she said it wasnt to heavy but felt a little unbalanced, she came home i put the grip on and even though she said it was slightly heavier the grip added quite abit of stability.
