Nice test on the wide open 100-400 + 2x. I've used mine in that configuration and indeed it's not as bad as expected.

Looks like the lad just saw the Sigmonster for the first time Anyway, the 1-4IS doesn't "suck" after all!Because of its very close MFD, I find that it's not very bad at all at people snapshots.... the DOF is thin enough to isolate an eye if that is desired. The 100-400 is one mighty useful lens......I actually love to use its short end for landscape, city and similar scenic shots such as the one below, completely unprocessed JPGs to go.
