Glen - which GND system did you end up getting? I still haven't decided which one to go with.
Did you intentionally leave the blend line above the horizon on these? It makes for an interesting effect. Are you using more than one filter stacked, or is this a rather strong one?
Athena,
I started a thread a while back to learn more about these systems and it ended up being a very informative. (Should Be Sticky IMHO)
The system I choose was based on the system Bluedog_XT recommended, as we have the same gear. (350D & EF-S 10-22mm)
I got my setup from www.2filter.com
Cokin P Wide Angle Holder COK299P $10.57
Cokin P Series 77mm Adapter Ring COK77RP $12.28
Hitech 85/P Gradual ND 0.6 (2-stop) Soft Edge HT1407P $41.66
Hitech 85/P Gradual ND 0.9 (3-stop) Soft Edge HT1408P $41.66
Today I took about 300 shots... Experimenting w/ Metering, Exposure, filter position, ect... Many of the shot where of the same subjects, but w/ bracketed exposures, adjusting fall off line, ect... to get a feel for the gear and how to use it.
I took some "normal" landscape shots and put the line @ the horizon. One Is Posted Here. And got good results.
The Color Versions Of the Images Above Are Posted Here.
The above Images where converted and then I ran a Kubota Action "Hot Fudge", which uses a gradient Map, So it exaggerated the fall off even more.
Not sure these systems are "meant" to do still-life type photography that I do, but I liked how they effected the image... I think it has opened the door to new ideas of shooting outdoor still-lifes.
All shot where taken w/ the EF-S 10-22mm & HITECH (Soft) 0.9 (3 Stops) GND Filter.
