Let's just say.. for those of you that is a wedding photog part-time or even full time, I give you mad props. Multiple pats on your back for you!!

Last night as I prepped all my gears for the wedding.. I go so excited and nervous I couldn't sleep. So with only less than 4hrs of sleep.. I start shooting a wedding as if it's my own.

So after shooting 12 hrs for a friend's friend, I am soo tired, but had SOOOO MUCH FUN! Let's just say, I'm addicited. I'm so glad my wife is my assistant.. otherwise I don't know what I'd without her.

Oh btw, it's a free wedding shoot, but got surprised with a red envelope from the sister of the bride. I wasn't expecting much.. just wanted to have fun and see if I can really get into being a wedding photog. But mainly I wanted to capture some whole hearted photos for my portfolio.

Time to get some shut eyes.. PP (pixel peeping) starts tomorrow morning with some Lisa Ono or some other jazzy music and a cup of iced vietnamese coffee to boot~

Thanks.. Happy New Years to you and your family.

I shot about 20Gs worth of RAW. Just finished downloading them to my computer and duplicating a backup. Time to sleep....

Wow, 18GB, 20GB! I'd better get some more memory!

That's amazing! Even at 10GB ea, that's still something like 2,500 shots!

I'm doing one of my first weddings in 2 months (first solo) and only have 4 2GB cards (8GB), and I always shoot in RAW. I figured 1600 photos would be enough. They want the whole gig (dress, formals, ceremony on beach, more formals after, fun shots, and reception).

Well, congradulations. Look forward to seeing them.

let me also add that our 18GB is RAW and off of two cameras! We shoot two shooters, documentary style, plus the traditional formals. So we average between 2500 and 4000 shots a wedding. I think this is fairly normal. If i shot only 8 GB worth of shots I wouldn't be doing my job. I see guests go through 4-8gb worth of memory on their fancy little prosumer cameras and they aren't even being paid to take those!

Plus, if the couple is fun and willing to shoot, then shoot away my friend! Why hold back? Its digital :O) You never know when you might get that unexpected perfect shot, just because you happen to have the camera stuck to your face rather than hanging around your neck. People joke with me in the summer that my face is only partially tanned because the camera never leaves it! :O)

12hrs of shooting! Ugh. Not sure I'd be able to handle that. And 20Gb!! Yikes, I better start collecting CF cards if I'm ever to shoot a full wedding.

Looking fwd to seeing your shots!

hi guys and gals.. i woke up this morning very refreshed only to find that i can barely make my right arm straight. it was stuck at a shooting angle for a while.

man, i didn't think having a batt grip would weight that much. looks like it's time to pump some iron.

here are two quick PP shots. I'm still sorting though them now.. had a late start. they were very very fun to shoot!! these are the best men toying with the groom. haha

i'm super paranoid.. so it's better to be safe than sorry. even shooting in RAW, i shot duplicates, just in case if their eyes were caught wondering by other relatives camera.

that's why i brought 14G with me. we'd even had some time to DL the files and make backup of the files to clear out some cards in preparation for the ceremony at night.

yup, that's the way i think to. as my wife would put it.. shoot the wedding as if it's your wedding. feel the wedding as if it's the most important day of your life. plus the couple is fun and their family member is super fun too.. lotsa crying and lotsa laughter.. so i couldn't hold back.. it's just too enjoyable to be their primary shooter.

Thanks ...

2500 shots! Yikes!

On these 2, they're good catches. Suggest cropping down the ceiling and tweeking color balance. The tinting is more on the first shot. If you have several shots and have more full-body capture, it'de be quicker to see what they're doing (picking groom up).

Look forward to seeing some picks from the ceremony etc. too.

yeah.. i haven't had the time to do any PP yet. as you can see my RAW workflow sucks. 2000 photos without categorizing first and trying to use DPP.. it's super slow. So I'm using ACDSee Pro to quickly put them into folders and categories and then go from there.

And I got sick & tired of PPing 40 shots & going through 200-300. 2000+ would make me go nuts...

yup.. thats why i love my wife cuz she's filtering and deleting all the ones with motion blurs or anything blinks first.

i'm only giving the Bride 300 PP shots and then rest it'll be 4x6 file with slight pp as a added gift.
