Interesting Catchlights

Saw those heart shape catchlights in a magazine once, I was interested to duplicate them. Made a mask from black fabric, cut the heart shape out of the middle. Test shots below, the main light with the mask is powered by a 580 EX.

Do you like them, or hate them?

I like them Very interesanting! Maybe you should try star shape also.

They look shopped in the colour pic. They really focus your attention, for me they are a little too much.

Yeah, as with the ring light, this type of modifier does creates very intense catchlights. Also, if the catchlights are not at the right spots, the eyes would look really weird.

My instant reaction is "really awful". They look incredibly artificial.

To maximize the effect, you should combine them with selective color, hold the camera at a 45-degree angle, and print the result on velvet.

It would be less tacky if the hearts didn't have the black part in the center to accentuate them. But I still don't like it.

On the plus side, you did a great job of executing the idea, and the poses and shots themselves are wonderful.
