4 small local bands, two of which had members who were my friends, so I said I would take pics while I was there for fun. This is my first show, exclusively with the 50 1.8 I got for Christmas.

The lighting for the second 2 bands was terrible, all light from below, no face or toplight, so they looked evil or possessed in every shot...

Here's a few of my favourites:
From the first band with top and a little facelight:

From the 4th band, all bottom light:

Their huddle before their set: I'm in love with this one.

Quite the passionate moment from the 3rd band:

Things I learned:
-It's HARD to headbang and take good photos simultaneously.
-ISO1600 cleans up nicely
-Small bands love posing for photos even while they perform, :)

EXIF isn't avail...They look pretty good for your first...You could use some in group promo...the group huddle is OK but it will need an explanation of what it is, every time...lets see what others say...

Yea, cause I linked directly from the portfolio section of my personal site, where I don't like to leave EXIF on them. Sorry.

And I agree with the group huddle, that was one of the things I thought about it, but I feel it will still be a powerful one for them personally.

Try MOSHING while you're taking pics - that hurts! :D :D

You've done great - and you are spot-on as far as small bands are concerned - they're the best to learn with!

I like picture no 2 (please number your pix infuture, makes it easier to comment!) -- I love the composition - its never easy to get something good from onstage... (backs of heads mostly) and this one's super.

Look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks everyone!

Unfortunately I don't see another show in the near future for me, probably won't be until the summer.

Next big photo event for me is the Toronto International Auto Show.
