I am still in Munich for a few days so lack of LAN connection is a bit limiting, but here are a few taken on Saturday when we drove down to Italy (The austrian bit).

There is a lake under there somewhere.

We stooped for a bit to eat just past the lake and the last of the sun had gone from the ski slopes but remained on high!

Can anyone tell me why the ATTACH tags don't work...they would not show so I removed them and the images appeared?

Hmmm,i couldn`t answer you on this one but i can tell you that you are a very lucky man to be able to experience that kind of wilderness.
Your pictures are a breath of fresh ( and freezing cold ) air to all of us.:D

Cheers Dimitri, the first photos posted this year and cold one to boot. -5 or 6 in the mountains and upto -12 around Munich (at 7am!) but now it is wet and windy, I think I should return to sunny UK.... :|

around the hidden lake was 6 inches of snow and about 4 inches of frost!

Beautiful Neil, and you seem to like to vary your landscapes from the hot (and sometimes wet) Africa, to the cold of these photos. Or, to put it another way, I'm jealous of you getting around so much. ;)

Stunning Neil.

The exposure in number 2 is excellent. Having lots of snow (or at least the opportunity of it) here in Eastern Canada, I can attest to the cameras difficulty in getting it right.

So... the Austrian bit of Italy eh? Is that like the Scottish part of England?

ROFL.

Cousin. Who has never been to Italy - but loves pasta! :(

I meant to ask Neil, what lens did you use with the 5D? I am looking to upgrading later this year and due to the number of fine photographers in here, it looks like the full frame 5D is the way to go. I noticed Dimitri has a 5D also.

Fortunately I don't have any EF-S lenses other than the kit lens with my original 300D.

5D | 24-105 L IS USM | 17-40 L USM

I was impressed by the EF-S 10-22mm, but I guess the 17-24 is the nearest equivalent? Looks like we are back to 35mm math again.

I wanted to add that your shots of Africa on Flickr are stunning. http://www.flickr.com/photos/neilyb/ (external link)

Cousin. For the above shots I used both the 24-105 (mostly) and the 17-40 (the lake covered in snow) both are fantastic lenses and it coes down to what you need. 24 is wide, 17 is REALLY wide!

PS - tis the part of Italy that was fought over a short while ago and the Italians won, but the first language is still German.

To everyone else, thanks for the comments. :)
