I got a tip once - but they had hired me for only an hour, and I drove 5 hours to their wedding. I went with a friend and made a day of it, and visited her grandparents - and they paid for the gas - so taking an hour out of the day was worth it to me. Because I drove so far and did so much they gave me an extra $60. Other than that, I haven't been tipped ... nor would I know what to do if I was!

Been tipped several times, usually at parties.

The last Pimp & Hoe party I shot generated three times the expected sales, and the host paid an additional $150 to the amount I charged just to be there.

It really comes down to situation. I have had two tips at weddings, but most come from parties.

Customer service is key, I ALWAYS have a CSR (customer service rep) at the parties, they collect money, issue receipts, file orders...etc, and above all they are courteous to the clients, even when the clients are slobbering drunk.

Treat people well and they will WANT to pay for your services, and will WANT to tip you for a job well done.

Been only tipped once, and I don't expect to be tipped ever again.

I have been tipped a few time, generally they just added it to the final check. The best tip I have ever gotten was referrals from happy clients- LOVE that :)

When i first started out in weddings...i would only charge for the proof book not my time or anything else, and people gave me little gifts as a thank you...i got a $100 voucher and a few extra bits and pieces of money so...yeh i have been given tips before but not anymore now that i charge accordingly lol
Usually it's me giving out freebies (Eg. Calendars, Poster Prints, Enlargements)

...I used to get tips quite a lot when I was cheap....

No Jamie, I think what you meant to say was "... when my prices were lower"!

I've been tipped several times. Are my prices too low? HaHa!
Seriously I have shot weddings in Canada and the US and US clients almost always tip...

I don't expect tips but graciously accept them and split them with my second shooter.

because I have been so extremely cheap my first year in business I have recieved tips several times. But I expect now that my prices have increased I will not get them as often. My best tip is them being totally thrilled with the pics and service I provide :)

So I would say depending on how much the photographer has charged the couple as to how much, if any, you tip :)

we have the same last name lol
