Guy is selling it for $2300, comes with original box and manuals. He sent me pics of the camera and all pics of the camera look great, no scuff marks. Some minor marks from a monopod and some minor scuff marks on the hot shoe.

But does $2300 for a 1dmk2 sound like a good deal?

My main concern is that I think that price is great! But no one else is interested in buying the camera for some reason??? I'm thinking that maybe they know something that I don't....
I found this deal from FredMiranda's buy and sell section.

Do you know how many shots were taken with the camera in question

Depending on condition and number of shots, the 1Dmk2 is going for anywhere from $1600 to $2500 lately. I know that is a wide spread, but there are vast differences in the conditions of the bodies available. The used department at B&H, Adorama or Keh.com can give you a glimpse at pricing and condition.

$2300 is a good price depending on shutter count

Don't be lured by a sub-2k price....that could have 500,000 shots and look like it was used to dredge the Panama Canal. That is why I suggested you do some research before committing to a purchase.

Not from the exif info. If you have a raw or unprocessed jpeg...you can get the info via a program called Cancount. Several of us have it and would be more than happy to read the count for you should you need.

aw that sucks I don't have a raw file from the guy. I'm looking for the guys ad on FM and looking in our emails to see if there were any mention of shutter activations. I'm sure there was but I don't remember a number. But either way if the shutter activations were high couldnt I just send the camera away later on to get it fixed if problems should arrise? But yeah that's an extra expense and all.. humm...

Yes, and since you're gonna get a RAW file from the seller anyway, ask him to stop a lens down to f/22, fill the frame with a blank piece of white paper in even lighting, and photograph that.

Hopefully, if there's any issues with the sensor or the AA filter, they'd become apparent in the image.

The 1DMII has an expected shutter life of 200,000

Ask him to share a RAW with you...a reputable seller should have no problem with that.

Not too bad, if the body is in good shape, I say good deal. Its still got 166,000 shots of life left
