I go shooting and get some of my shots that turn into .cs images instead of jpg's - and at times I can take a set of shots (110% sure that I shoot) and I don't find them no where on my CF cards ....

Whats going on? any body know?

Thanks!
From me,
Randy

The .cs file extentions I think are for RAW files. Guessing you have your camera set to RAW and are either switching from one of the program modes which will give you RAW (.CS) to the automatic modes which will give you JPG. OR you have RAW+JPG turned on.

Hope that helps.

Right. I think the various auto/basic modes don't allow raw. If you have the camera set to raw and you occassionally switch to P or Tv or Av or M, then the camera will allow raw.

Yeah they're all cr2... I've no idea what a .cs file is.

You sure you got the right file extension?

You are probably in RAW mode for image quality, and alternately shooting in the Creative Modes, and in the Basic modes. To get the .cr2 files, use a cardreader.

Like the others I have never heard of the .cs file extension.
What have you been doing with these files? Can you somehow open them?

Here are all of the programs using a .CS extension (external link). My guess is maybe you have some unknown mac file or source code. I doubt you are playing Tribes2 on your camera :)

oops - yeah - sorry - it is cr2 - my short term memory is extremely terrible.
Okay - sometimes when I try to shoot nervous birds I switch to the action/sports mode to get more viewable shots.

One more question:
Is there any way to stop so many folders from being made on the card?
It seems as though every time the images are downloaded - some are totally missing.
The other day the target were bluebirds, sea gulls. wood pecker, and squirrel.
after the download - had to open the card like it was an external hard drive to get the rest of the shots out.
What program do you's use that allows for all files and folders to be complet4ly downloaded?
... I am using the default computer settings ...

I appreciate all the response and feedback...

Just format your card in camera.
Please don’t take me wrong, but I believe that you should re-read your camera manual.

Don't take so many pictures. If you take less than 100 pictures for the life of the camera, no additional folders will be created. ;)
