Great colors and detail and you have to be patient at 1/50 sec to wait for a time when the bird is absolutely still. Surprised to see no mirror lock up. Excellent work as always Romy. Gary Fairhead C/C welcome .....

Gary, the weak mirror slap of the 350D allows me to shoot at 800-1600 mm without MLU using speeds as slow as 1/40 to 1/50 sec. This body's AF is not as good as my 20D/1dm2 but I prefer it for the Sigmonster because of this. Romy Ocon, Philippine Wild Birds

Jan 05, 2007 17:51 | #29 Thanks all once again.... Ed Rotberg wrote in post #2495015 Romy, Awesome as usual! You are manually focusing that monster with a 2X?? Isn't that like f/11 equivalent wide open? Seems pretty dark to nail the focus like you did on such a small viewfinder. Were you focus bracketing?= Ed = Ed, Romy Ocon, Philippine Wild Birds

canonloader Cream of the Crop More info | Jan 05, 2007 18:01 | #30 liquidstone wrote in post #2495242 I did take many attempts, and each attempt was individually manual-focused (randomly, not bracketed). The bird's perch was swaying in the wind, so perhaps I just got lucky. At moonshots and static subjects (whose distance doesn't vary), I do manual focus bracketing - shoot at the point of near misfocus then progressive turn the focus ring with each shot until the focus is at the other end of the range. Romy Maybe get a split-image screen for the camera. I did, and what a difference. Mitch- ____...^.^...____
