So we were heading back to Munich and took a worng turn onto a small mountain road. It was getting dark and the GF was not happy everytime I shouted 'STOP!'. But I am glad I weathered her wrath. All with 24-105.

Could have done with more than 105mm reach, but attached to the 714B anything heavier would have wobbled! :|

Having no filters and being rushed by the GF I exposed for the highlights and adjusted accordingly. Luckily the snow helped boost the exposure, a normal grassy slope would have been a black mass! Comments welcome as I feel filters would have helped with details of the last 2.

Nice shots. The first and last seem oversharpened while the middle one is blurred a bit... it' makes it difficult to be more specific on several shots... so you have to live with a unspecific comment from my side. ;) I do like the colors in the first and the compositional elements in the third. I'm not very touched by the second one. And maybe think about using a different font, and give it more space in the frame.

cheers

Gorgeous colors Neil especially that second one. Love the light you captured on the far off mountain in the third. First shot should be framed. Very nice indeed.

I agree with the sharpening comment, but they are great shots... number 2 for me as the road is a nice lead.
Colours are great.

Excellent stuff Neil

Great Skies, I too would've taken a few clips around the Lug from the GF to get shots like this ;)

Oh wow, where is this place,i`ve got to go visit it,superb countryside.

The 2nd one for me too Neil, the colour of the sky with the beauty of the place match for a perfect looking image.

Oversharpened? Can only think that the Photoshop noise reduction tool has had a hand in this, it is just not noise ninja, may have to have another go once back at my PC - thanks for the comment though I hadn't noticed. The exposure on the second and thrid was 15 seconds so noise and the odd hot pixel abound.

Agree with the fonts too, should have used Arial as I have nothing decent with me.

Thanks guys for your comments, as usual, sorry about the lack of waterfalls again tho :) If I get chance I will find a map of the area and let you know where it is - not so far from Bolzano. :)

These are superb :) Right up my street and very well exposed.

I think the apparent oversharpening is a product of the image size reduction as when I look at the larger sizes it does appear.

Technical perfection is only ever important if it improves the asthetic. It is not the precursor to beauty. Not in art..not in music and not in photography!

Lovely Neil, and the first one is my favourite. The third one especially seems oversharpened, but I'm sure the originals in all their glory will be fine photographs indeed.

I think perhaps I sharpened the last one twice, once when I made the large and then again when I reduced further :| live and learn.... :)

Cheers again guys!

Update the images with slightly less sharpening, being careful not to resize and re sharpen... :)
