hey,

I was reading a magazine the other day (again, I get bored in walmart) and I noticed they had an entire videos on 400Ds/30Ds/5Ds. Does anyone have any of the videos? Are they worth spending the sweet $25 USA dollars for one on my camera? =)

I haven't seen 'em, but the time spent on a video may be better spent with the camera manual, hot cocoa, and then out experimenting.

I would agree with you, lots of practice and just read the manual over and over till you got it memorized. ;)

I don't have those specific videos, but I've purchased one or two in the past for specific photographic endeavors. I'd have to say, you money and time is better spent with the manual, practicing, or even on POTN.

I bought a DVD Instructional video off E-bay on the XTi. It was great. 2 DVD's 3 hours long. It took you through each feature of the camera. I liked it because it wasn't trying to teach photography but it was just introducing you to the camera and that is what I needed.

They actually have them for most DSLR camera's. The sellers store on e-bay is jonvideo and they are made by Elite Video www.elitevideo.com (external link) in Arkansas.

I recommend them. They saved me a lot of time reading my manual over and over and I could do what they were doing on my camera right along with the DVD.

I have seen one for the XT. If you can read the manual and understand what its telling you. You don't need the video. Now if reading the manual just don't do it for you you can get the video. Watch the video and now when you go back to the manual you may understand what its telling you better.

If you have a good undersanding of your camera, don't get the video, it will not help in anyway.

I bought one of the instructional videos on my 300D. I'm not real good with the manuals that come with everything so I took a chance & bought the video. That was the best investment I have made in a while. I know my camera so much better now from watching the video and it made me more confident in what I am doing. Yes, I definitely recommend getting the video!
