I'd be interested in this, the more south the location, the better as I'd be making the trek from SD.

I'm trying to set something up in Long Beach Aquarium for next weekend or the one following.

The models will sign releases but will want photo copies. These are actual engaged couples I contacted via an ad saying I'll do free photography to build my portfollio. They probably wouldn't object if someone declined to give them copies, but I'd have to check so let me know if that's an issue. Of course, they don't ever see the duds.

I think Grego's in, and he's got a friend who may come too.

We'll study poses and subject management in the morning, have lunch, then shoot for a couple of hours, then, if you wish, view on laptops and work on a little PP knowledge exchange - probably at a Starbucks or the like.

Grego's friend has WP experience and I know one other pro who's expressed interest in helping us out - but she's just moving to LA so may not be available for this one.

Probably; 5 or 6 will be a full house on this one - unless we get another set of models, lol.

On a side note; a local pro studio in Huntington Beach, he does 100 high-dollar weddings a year, has offered to do a little workshop for $90/ea but he needs at least 5 or 10 participants to make it worthwhile.

The subject of the workshop would be up for grabs.

EDIT: OK, looks like I'm shooting a wedding next Sunday, so that's out.

If there's interest, we'll get something together on a different date.

So we just need to set up a date. How's Sunday the 21st, 11:00 AM, meet at the rushing fountian that's right in front of the aquirium.

Outline suggestions?

Here's mine ... We'll bring a bunch of sample (printed or magazine) poses, and we'll all have read some "assigned reading" article, and we'll bring our flashes. We'll discuss technique, gotcha's, select some poses or concepts we want to practice, discuss the related "reading assignment", then have a bite of lunch. Someone will line up a couple who will sign releases and we'll shoot them together while stopping to talk about what we're doing.

So; Grego x2 ?, Ariane, Myself x2.

Who's in?

That's wonderful. I'm glad to see interest. Love to see all these fellow aspiring wedding / portriat photographers there.

Just so you know, it's posted here because it'll be geared for that. So far; we're all relative beginners at it, although we're hoping for someone with more WP experience to drop by.

Today's mock E-Session showed us that if it lingers too long in one place, it stagnates quickly, and you wind up with 60 photos of essentially the same thing. Reviewing the photos, the woman's hands started figiting, and it was wearing. (that said, it was a great success. we got some nice keepers ... I'll post a few later)

We brought TOO MUCH STUFF. We had about 8 lenses and 3 cameras for 2 of us. The woman brought a thick jacket.

So; suggest for Jan 21 meet, only bring 1 camera, flash, and no more than 2 lenses or 3 (whatever you can easily carry while shooting).

Anyhow; I've lined up an engagement couple (friends who were just engaged). She's slightly nervous about so many photographers so do bring a slightly longer lens so we're not in their faces so much.

If it grows too much, we'll need another couple.

Oh; PLEASE DON'T SHOOT if you are unwilling to give out free copy of your photos to the couple. At today's shoot; I downloaded them to my computer and we reviewed them after the couple left. That worked out well.

See ya there. Please PM me if you're coming so I can have an idea. So far I think there's 4 confirmed.
