I'm hoping this is considered a macro shot, I got pretty close. It is of course, a hammer, taken as it was found in my late grandfather's old workshop. It was taken as a black and white, no editing except size reduction. My first macro too!

I'd say its a still life rather than a macro - wikipedia states:

In recent years, the term macro has been used in marketing material to mean being able to focus on a subject close enough so that when a regular 4×6 inch (102×152 mm) print is made, the image is life-size or larger. This requires a magnification ratio of only approximately 1:4, more easily attainable by lens makers.

nice textural detail in your photo but composition doesn't really grab me.
