Hi,

First of all, my compliments to these forums - they are first rate. I am delving into macro photography. I have an XTi, Sigma 105 Macro on the way, and am unfortunately out of cash at this point for a Speedlite or equivalent flash, not to mention a ring lite. My question is, does anyone have any images (or can someone produce one) of photos using the built in flash? I realize that it is desireable (perhaps even necessary) to have the flash up and away via a bracket, but am wondering at the results using what I have.

Thanks again for a wonderful collection of forums.

I will try to help, when I first got addicted to Macro, and you will, if you keep looking in this Forum, I at first tried the pop-up flash in my camera, I was quickly frustrated with the limited range, I also started with a limited budget, and actually found a used flash with a remote cord that served me really well until I could find a bracket I liked. Hope this idea helps, in fact, I still have that set-up somewheres.:D

geoawelch,
Of course its possible :) and of course its even better with a bigger flash and its even better with an off shoe cord etc.. etc.... but the built in flash is usable with good results (to my eyes).

Here are some photos that I have online that I took with my Canon 10D with its built in flash, and 100mm f/2.8 macro lens
