Hi, can anyone point me in the general direction of a company willing/able to rent out a 300 f2.8 for a weekend? I really need to see for myself what one of these puppies is capable of. Cheers.

If you are around London then apparently Fixation are pretty good and keep the kit in good condition.

Elsewhere then try Calumet.

Should be looking in the region of about £30-35 a day, or about £140-150 for a week. Most will let you have one for the weekend for the same as the daily rate.

Oh and good luck, since after you use one of these, you will have great difficulty in talking yourself out of getting one!!! I borrowed one from our paper and was hooked instantly!

I live in Birmingham and looked into lens hire before Christmas - the only place I found was Calumet in Birmingham - and they didn't have the lens - London did- but it would have worked out as a 3 day hire and delivery - just wasn't worth it - so I bought a 85mm f/1.8, 2nd hand, instead - not the same as the f/1.2 I was looking at hiring - but was only about £50 more - and I have a lens to keep!

Thanks for the link Paul. Pending the deposit fitting onto my card, it should be here for next weekend.:D

I already have the 300 f4, so this is the only way to go for me, really. I didn't think £150 for the weekend wasn't bad for a 3 grand bit of kit.:)
