Hoya 77mm Super-HMC Circular Polarizer Multi Coated Pro 1 Extra Thin Glass Filter

This baby costs $188, but I don't mind the cost considering it's going to be used for my 24-70, 70-200, 100-400, and my next lens, Canon 10-22. Has anyone used this filter for any of the lenses listed, and if so, what are the pros and cons in your view? Thanks.

I have it and use it with my Tamron 17-35/2.8-4 and Canon 70-200/4 (with a step up ring).

I like it but since it is so thin, I can't put a lens cap on it.

I need all the help I can get.

Can't put the lens cap on both lenses?

the thin filter does not allow the lens cap to be used. most of the time it is not neccesary to use them

Hmmm.. interesting.... then how do folks protect the filter, such as from getting it scratched and dust accumulating, etc.?

I have heard that there is a plastic press-on cap available for use with a thin filter that does not have front threads for a cap to grip. (Kind of like a tennis ball can lid!) I believe that some other brands of thin filters do have threads in front for the conventional cap to grip.

I have a b+w ultrathin on my sigma 10-20 and it came with a lense cap that presses on, gripping the outside of the lense. you can't take it off w/ the hood on though.

It's kind of a pain, but I take the filter off when I put the camera into the bag. If I'm walking with my camera out, I'll point the lens downward and cup the end the lens with my hand (but not touching the filter).

I need to get some of those push on caps...

I need all the help I can get.
