I like the Energizer Lithium batteries, they cost more but last longer. I'm not sure if it works out to be more or less overall...I don't keep a flash count.

Energizer Litiiums would be a single-use, not rechargeable. Are you referring to the Energizer e2 ?

One good source I have used is here: http://www.thomas-distributing.com …echargeable_batteries.php (external link) ($11.97 for pack of 4).

I have three set of 4 and used one set in my Sigma 500 DG Super for the better part of 2 hours at a dark wedding reception before the recharge times forced me to switch out to a second set. Finished the night with that set so I'm quite pleased with their performance.

I bought mine from Thomas distributing. Been using them the last three years without a problem. Picked up a 24 pack at that time. I have two Ray O Vac chargers that will charge eight at a time. Easy to keep them ready to go that way.

Fast chargers shorten the lifespan of your rechargables. By how much?, probably not enough to matter for people in a hurry. :)

Here is my little secret.

Get an American Express card, charge all your camera gear to it and ensure you enroll in the membership rewards program.

Each time you rack up 2500 points, redeem it for a $25 gift card to Home Depot and spend it all on Energizer lithium batteries.

The cost of the membership rewards will pay for itself in no time.;)

OK, from someone in the UK, I use Vapextech Nimh 2700MAh - they are excellent.

Do a search on ebay, for vapextech (their ebay shop is cheaper than their web-site!)

They do a super-fast charger (charges a set of four 2700 in 35mins), complete with a set of batteries for under £20. A set of four 2700 will cost you about £4 a set.

I have found the batteries & company to be superb.

Or skip the AmEx membership fees and buy thru Amazon.com on their card. Same $25 back benefit, without the up front card cost. And the premium is usable for another purchase at Amazon, rather than on disposable lithium batteries.

I'm looking for some AAs for my flash, thanks for posting about Vapextech, I'll be using them. There are some great deals in their Ebay shop!

I took a quick loook through this thread and didn't see this link posted as of yet. It's a good overview of NiMH 'AA' batteries (tested in sets of 4) and some good technical information on chargers and the technology.

depending on what style of shoot I'm doing I might run two speedlites with rechargeable batteries. I have tried various brands of rechargeable batteries and the only thing I have identified is that it is easier to have three or fours sets of batteries that can recharge in less than 15 mins so I can shoot continuously without having to stop and wait for them to boot up again. Watch your fingers though as those little suckers can come out of the recharger pretty hawt!

I just picked up some Sanyo Eneloop AA's this weekend. They claim to hold a charge when not in use for up to 2 years.
