I was wondering if anyone has a MyBook external hard drive made by Western Digital. I'm needing extra storage and backup for my photos and am looking at MyBooks.
I'm trying to decide between two particular models. For anyone who doesn't know about them, let me give a brief description:
- MyBook Premium 250GB: 7200rpm drive, 1 USB 2.0 connection, 2 Firewire 400 connections, 1 year warranty, Basic WD Backup software.
- MyBook Premium 320GB: 7200rpm drive, 1 USB 2.0 connection, 2 Firewire 400 connections, 1 year warranty, Basic WD Backup software, $40 more than #1.
- MyBook Pro 250GB: 7200rpm drive, 1 USB 2.0, 1 Firewire 400, 2 Firewire 800, 3 year warranty, EMC® Retrospect® Express software, $30 more than #2, or $70 more than #3.
So, any opinions? Will I regret not getting a larger drive? Is the 3 year warranty worth the extra money in your opinion? My decision will likely be between #2 and #3. I gave you #1 for the sake of comparison.
The other question I had was concerning backup software. I haven't done a search for recommended ones, if you want to recommend one quickly that has worked for you that would be great too!!
Thanks for any advice!!
