I just bought a black canvas F2. Do I need to wash it before use? I don't want the color bleeding on my clothes.

I have no experience doing this, but here's a RFF thread that has people talking about it.. it seems to not be a problem

My navy one did rub off for a while after I got it. Probably won't hurt (the bag; no tellilng what the clips and D-rings will do to the enamel of the washer or drier).

put it in a long pillowcase or something. I wear dark clothes mostly so it's never been a thought for me.

Good idea about the pillowcase. The F-2 is in the wash now. I don't hear any clanking from the buckles. That's a good thing.

After I get a new Domke bag, I spray it with water repellent. I usually pick up the good spray at REI. It helps keep the bag cleaner, and drier if it gets wet.
