thoughts...

My first thoughts were with the skin tone. Have you selectively desaturated parts of the image?

Yes, I have, Athena. Well spotted. I slightly desaturated skin, saturated lips, burned eyebrowns and dodged (already originally blond) hair.

I really like. I might desaturate the ears a bit more to match the face color. Either way it really captures and maintains my interest.

Julie, I was considering to work with the ears a bit more, but then I decided to keep that as 'balance' to the redish lips. Thanks for looking.

Good light, crisp image. Reminds me of Blade Runner.

There is always the first time. ;)

Some facts: Fruit: The fruit, borne singly or in pairs at the axils, is a berry with many minute seeds at the center. A gooseberry may be green, white (gray-green), yellow, or shades of red from pink to purple to almost black. Fruits of the European gooseberry may be very large, like a small plum, but are usually 1 inch long, less in width. American gooseberry fruits are smaller (to 1/2 inch), perfectly round, all becoming pink to wine-red at maturity. Skin color is most intense in full sunlight. Berries generally drop when overripe. The fruit has a flavor all its own, the best dessert cultivars as luscious as the best apple, strawberry or grape. (external link)

It's a long time I've seen Blade Runner ... how you link this picture to that movie, Dave?

okay, going past the PP, but still related to it, I think the variations of greyness in his skin tone along with the pose farther suggest illness or morbidity to me. A stark contrast to the vivid impression of life from both the berry and lips. It's a play of contrasts, which intrigues.

I think it would be awesome to see a desaturation gradient either advance or regress from the perimeter of the berry. As if the berry were either returning or removing the life of your model.

Now we are closing my thinking: morbidity, even mortality, the thin line between life and death, how to visualise that. I'm very pleased you took this up, Athena.

Unusual concept but I think it works pretty well. When I first saw it I thought "vampire" but I also go along with the Bladerunner comment - the pallid skin and close haircut definitely give the feeling of a replicant. Did you explore this concept any further? If you have any more shots on this theme it would be interesting to see them.
