Hi everyone,
I've been lurking on these forums for who knows how long and I love to see how amazingly talented you photographers are! I just got a Canon 20D for Christmas and I am interested in starting photography. My sister is getting married TOMORROW and I would like to use my new camera and just do some candids of the bride and groom. They hired a professional photographer but she said she'd let me take pictures of her and her new husband when the other photographer takes a break!
The only problem is that I don't know how to do manual and I'm planning on using the "P" mode. I know this is basic for some of you but what ISO, etc should I set my camera to when taking outdoor shots? Any help, suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! I'm excited to be on these forums to learn a lot!

Welcome to POTN....

For out side depends on the weather, sunny ISO 100, cloudy ISO 200-400 depends again on the location etc.

Inside I use most of the time, ISO 400 F5.6 1/50 and then just adjust flash to get the correct exposure.

I would just take what shots you can, dont get in the way and have fun and learn something. :D Dont get stressed out and have fun.

Cross your fingers and shoot away. Not much else you can do after owning the camera for two weeks. Kit lens and no external flash? Just remember to say 'cheese'.

I totally disagree. Do not keep it on auto or p mode all night and have fun! This is not going to teach you anything. Use this opportunity to experiment with different ISO settings, Av mode, drive modes, EC's, WB, bracketing, FEC's, RAW vs JPEG, etc.
