Hello. I am trying to upload photos from my computer to the CF card in my Digital Rebel. (This is for a gift for my father's digital picture frame).

The software I am using is the Zoombrowser EX that came with the camera.

*It won't allow me to upload any images that have been rotated or altered, which most of them have been*

Is there a solution to upload these 60 photos to the card using different software? Do i need some sort of CF card reader?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I've never plugged my camera directly into my PC, I always use a card reader. The card shows up in windows explorer 'My Computer' as a drive.

In this case, all you'd do is navigate to where you've stored your saved images and copy/paste, drag and drop or right click and 'send to' the CF card.

I would imagine that the same happens when you plug your camera in via USB and power it up. Try it, have a look in My Computer. You'll hopefully be able to explore the card, drag and drop, cut and paste etc. as normal.

It does show up as a drive, however it does not allow me to copy/paste or drag the photos into it. I found the similar threads listed below and am reading more.

Looks like I may just need to buy a card reader.

Thank you for your help.

Do not try to put photo files on a card and then put the card into a camera expecting to see the photos in the camera.

If you have photos that were taken already, just burn them to a CD.

Just curious, why???

I do at time copy images to flash media but just to transport it to have images printed locally or to put into a digital frame. For efficiency I use a card reader (under $10) to transfer images to flash media. Its best to copy the images into a folder title it DCIM. Some sw looks for this folder first.

I don't need to see them in the camera at all - this is just for someone's digital picture frame. I will be buying a card reader (which I should probably have anyway).

Thanks to all.

You can put images on the CF from a computer, for the purposes of taking them to a retailer for printing. But Canon has confirmed for me that I could not take images and postprocess them, and then put them back on the same CF that they were taken on originally, to play them from my G2 onto a connected TV in slide presentation mode. No explanation why, just that "you can't".

I haven't try using processed images for viewing in camera before. Haven't find a need yet to do that. But, flash media for argument sake in a card reader operates as a removable drive. As with MOST removable drives, they can be minipulated like any HDD. CUT/COPY/PASTE/DRAG&DROP.

Ah thats just what I religate my old 512MB CF for, DIGIFrame.

A $10 Card Reader will be the best $10 you'll ever spend. You'll kick yourself afterward for not doing it sooner.

But Canon USA says you cannot move a picture onto the memory card for display in the camera.

And they most liely are correct for which I have NEVER tried nor have a desire to try!!!

The OP wants to move images to a CF to display on a Digital Photo frame which is VERY do-a-ble!!!

AFAIK Canon cameras when connected directly to the PC are not seen as mass "storage devices". Mass storage devices are such things as exteranl HDD or CD/DVD writers i.e. devcies where you can move copy paste files etc (subject to the OS and any software requirements).

Canon in common with all camera manufacturers have proprietory firmware running the computer in the camera and as such expect to "see" a file structure unique to them. Therefore even using a card reader and copying image file back that you edited will be unviewable because they are "that" altered files

I hope that makes sense, well it does to me ;)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Sounds like it's all agreed then. Card reader it is! Then the OP will be able to get his pictures onto his Father's digital picture frame as discussed in the original post.

I have a digital picture frame that has ability to read CF cards and some other media types. I stick the CF memory into my desktop computer's mutiformat reader, and copy JPG onto it and the digital picture frame reads them without problem. The prep work, though, it that the picture frame only handles files to 800x600 resolution, so it is necessary to downsize larger images before copying them to the CF card.
