Actually... if you look closely at the lighting in that thing... short of an HDR miracle... it woulda been impossible to get both that sun where it is, details in the foreground and much intelligible on the sign which was in the deepest shadow. SinceI didn't bracket this one grab shot,I was forced to enhance the hell outta the text and fill in areas that had just gone away in a wall-o-noise... Then I tried to recapture as much of the original ambience as possible. You will notice (you probably have) that htere is NO detail left in the tree trunk, which is a clue re. how little I had to work with. Moral? Expose for the sign, then expose for the environment... and probably, when looking directly into the sun... Don't use your widest angle lens and crop later... Sigh.... In all, I am pleased with the technical, but i didn't want to miss the message the owner had printed. Do you think it works?
