JimAskew Cream of the Crop More info | For general purpose photography with no specific idea in mind other than having fun I put the 17-55MM EF-S IS on my 30D and the Sigma 30MM f/1.4 on dRebel XT. Sometimes I will substitute my 10-22MM EF-S for the Sigma. Jim -- I keep the Leica D-Lux 7 in the Glove Box just in case!

I usually start with the the 17-55/2.8 and add a super wide zoom, telephoto zoom or macro lens depending on what I expect to photograph. Also, sometimes size counts and I don't want to lug around the 70-200/2.8 or 50-500/4-6.3. Currently the only longer, compact zoom lens I have is the 28-135, but I am considering the Sigma 50-150/2.8 or the Canon 70-300/4.5-5.6 DO IS. I am in wait mode for a while hoping Canon will bring out an EF-S lens with IS similar to the 50-150/2.8.
