Here's sharing a female Penelopides manillae (a Philippine endemic) captured at Mt. Makiling (Philippines) yesterday.

The bird was in the shade and I decided to expose it correctly at the expense of blowing some sunlit leaves at the upper right corner. The scene's DR was just too large for the sensor to cope with, even with RAW.

350D + Sigmonster + Canon 2x TC, 1600 mm, f/18, ISO 400, 1/10 sec (yes, 0.10 sec....;) ), manual focus and exposure, MLU, RAW in ACR:

Great capture! Yes, the leaves could be fixed, but the bird is the shot. Thanks for sharing.

A 2X TC on a sigmonster at 1/10th, and it comes out like that. Simply superb.

Brandon, I was about 50 - 60 feet from the bird. This was taken in portrait mode and almost full frame in the horizontal, and cropped at the top and bottom.

Another super image here Romy with great DOF and details on the bird. There certainly are some unique and beautiful birds in the Phillipines and you are a master at photographing them.
