Slingshot 200 - Will a mounted 70-200 f/4 fit?

I've been reading some positive reviews on the Lowepro Slingshot 200.

My concern is that some say that a 70-200 f/4 IS lens will fit into this bag when mounted on the camera, while others say NO WAY, it won't fit.

Which is it? Will a 70-200 f/4 IS when mounted on the camera fit into a Slingshot 200 -- or not?

If anyone has any pics to "prove it" (one way or another) I'd appreciate it! :)

Hey, thanks! :) In that case... why do so many people say that this lens won't fit in this bag, unless it's taken off the camera?

Maybe they were trying to fit it with the lens hood on? would seem kind of silly to me.

Right Im going to settle this. I went down to the local camera store with my 30d and my 70-200 2.8 IS While it might fit with the 350/400 it doesnt with a 20/30D

I was really pissed about it as well as I wanted one for street photography

That's the 2.8IS not the 4IS. Different lenses.

Hi

The OP was asking about the F4 version, your F2.8 is approx 1 inch longer and just under half inch fatter.

For the record I have the 200AW and bought it on the basis of my 350D and 70-300 IS fitting and it does with a little room to spare like the 70-200 F4.

HTH :)

So, you're saying that it will fit, right?

I see the picture too, but since so many have said it doesn't fit, I'm not sure what to believe. Maybe the picture was mislabeled?? :)

trust me, it will fit. its a bit snug, but it will fit if you reverse the hood.

For my peace of mind I have checked the lised sizes of the lenses - the 70-200 is 76mmx 172mm and my 70-300 is 76.2mm x 143mm

My 350D with 70-300 fits the 200AW and slops around slightly without measuring I believe there is room enough for the 70-200 as the difference in length is 29mm. Just over the inch, so it will be just bit more snug IMHO but the proof of the pudding is go try it with your combo.

HTH :)

PS If I have the time later I will measure up and give the gap in mine, please bear with me!

It depends on which way the camera is orientated. My 1D & 70-200 IS + hood and 1.4 ext fits in nicely. Here's the proof.

Holy smokes, that thing is big! :)

Do you have any problems accessing the camera in that orientation?

Also. can you fit any other lenses in at the same time?

Apologies I wasnt aware they were different in size.  I see someone has also posted with a 1d fitting but that isnt the ideal orientation for me (though it has made me want to go back down to the shop to play with the bag further to see how it works out)
