Why not just get the Lowepro 300 AW

It's a bit too wide (for me, anyway). I'd rather have a smaller bag.

70-200 f4 L, 10D, Grip -> Slingshot 200 AW = Very snug.
Same orientation as the 1D above.
A lens in the right pocket (28-70 f2.8 EX) and another longer one in the left (I have the left pocket installed differently).

Holy smokes, that thing is big! :)

Do you have any problems accessing the camera in that orientation?

Also. can you fit any other lenses in at the same time?

No probs at all. My Canon 50mm 1.4 and Tamron 28-75 with hoods rev will fit together in the top pocket or my 580EX by itself.8 Minutes Ago 07:24 PM

Really? NICE!

Hmmm... this may be the bag to get. I was originally planning on getting the Lowepro Micro Trekker 200, since I wasn't sure if I'd like the "single strap only on the right shoulder" concept... but now I'm starting to like the thought of the Slingshot.

Anyone use the Trekker 200 that might be able to provide a comparison?

They will all fit, sideways. Like Freff has shown. However, the issue with that is that the whole bag becomes used for just that, so you can't have any other lenses and it's quite inefficient compared to a bag like the toploader or something.

However, the 'right' way, as originally intended - the 70-200 f/2.8 IS will not fit (mounted). Unmounted it goes just about all the way down. Apparently the f/4 does - according to people and review above it does - since it is smaller. I'm not sure about the f/4 IS (Which is what OP wants), since that is new and might be a different size from the regular f/4

Quitting photography for now, but thanks POTN we had a good run ;)

i know it will fit the 70-200 is +1.4 TC sideways. but will it fit a 70-200 f4(non is) with a 1.4 TC up and down ? I have a lowepro TLZ2 and its real snug with that combo.

This is not entirely true. I'm not sure if there is a 'right' way or not, that's why the partitions are removable. I can also carry at least two other lenses comfortably in the top pocket.

I didn't realize the top pocket was that big. That's good to know.

I looked for this bag at my local "Ritz" but they didn't have it. They did have the Trekker 200 which looked very good.

I have the Slingshot 200, 20D and the F4.
When placed the way it is intended, not sideways, it does fit, but the seams are bursting when you close the zippers. I do it sometimes, but as soon as possible I change the lens. I do not feel comfortable leaving the F4 on camera in the bag.

Ahaaaa! The truth comes out.

Now I need to re-think this. Thanks, YARRO!

I've been reading some positive reviews on the Lowepro Slingshot 200.

My concern is that some say that a 70-200 f/4 IS lens will fit into this bag when mounted on the camera, while others say NO WAY, it won't fit.

Which is it? Will a 70-200 f/4 IS when mounted on the camera fit into a Slingshot 200 -- or not?

If anyone has any pics to "prove it" (one way or another) I'd appreciate it! :)

That was the OP's original question.

I say...

Will the 70-200 f/4 IS mounted fit into the 200AW........yes it will.
Will the 70-200 f/4 IS mounted fit into the 200AW without straining the seams or zips.......yes it will.
Will the 70-200 f/4 IS mounted fit into the 200AW without any risk of damage due to it's orientation.......yes it will.
Will the 70-200 f/4 IS mounted fit into the 200AW the way it was intended........??????

"Right way"?

My way is right, that's why I use it

Does having a battery grip change things at all? Canon XTi?

Not sure on the dimensions of the XTi, but I think my 300D is bigger than an XTi, and I fit it in fine with 300D + grip.
