I took some bridals earlier today. It was tough, on the way home all I could think about is what I should have done. It was cold, windy and cold. I had a hard time dealing with the lighting. The bride is an awesome girl, and was willing to pretty much go anywhere....

Those are beautiful! I really love #2.

Don't know how I've missed your posts before. I'm in St. George too. ;) And yes, it was terribly cold today.

Very nice. I've always wanted to shoot a bridal in the red rocks. Good job.

It doesn't look like it was cold out, she looks very natural and pretty. Do you have any wider shots?

Absolutely beautiful photos! Be glad you're in SOUTHERN Utah! I'm downtown SLC and it was only 29 degrees yesterday. I shot 3 weddings, 3 families, and 1 bridal all on location in December - - talk about c-o-o-o-o-l-l-l-d

(pretty tricky shooting with gloves on and a headband ear warmer - - lot's of dust bunnies on the sensor).

I asked this on a new topic, but did not get a response..so I will post it here..How did you get the bride to take those pictures? before the wedding? after, much after? MY brides never have time after the ceremony, and they don't want to do it before...

Well, the norm here in Utah is to get some formal bridals done before the wedding so they have pictures to display at the wedding. Because everyone does it, I don't have to "force" the bride to sit for me. When they book me I usually set up a date for bridals that same day. This bride is getting married next month- we usually do the bridals a month or so before the wedding date.

Amy, that last one if fantastic! I love the lighting. (actually, I love the lighting in all of them ;) ) What was your set up for that one?

Thanks Cat. That would be natural lighting on the last with a little Photoshop boost. I ran the omni lighting effect and messed with the settings and dropped the opacity.

Love the last one too. My "technical" eye finds the shadowed background lacking in color, but at first glance (which I consider my "consumer-friendly" eye) I really like it a lot.
