Sun? What's that then?

Nice batch of images Paul. Did you use any NR on them as a couple have that 'look' about them... I'd be surprised if you did as most are shot at ISO800 or below.

Have to say my favourite is the last one of Gary Roberts... very nice indeed.

For the statisticians amongst you, Chester made history by being the first league side to be reinstated into the competition, after losing the 2nd round again Bury (Sorry Sir Vic!!). Final Score 0-0.

Was pondering this 'fact' yesterday as the media continued to make a song and dance about it... and not sure it's 100% true.

Think back to 1999-2000 season when Darlington were re-instated into F A Cup after losing in 2nd round to Gillingham. They filled the spot in the draw created by Manchester United's non-participation. Not the same reason, but certainly a previous case of 're-instatement' ;)

Hiya,

Sun? What's that then. I got totally soaked at Chelski

This picture sums up the weather, and my day!

 You've gotta love the weather we're having Rob!

Hope all is well... I'm sure you've noticed that things are becoming even more shambolic at your 'old' club as the latest manager bites the dust (in light drizzle):

Great photos. I am a season ticket holder at Celtic and sit only a few seats away from the photographers. You ever be up there? I get in with my 300D and 18-55mm lens so photos I get arent the greatest but its a start. I have been tempted to ask one of the photographers to fit one of there lenses to my wee 300d for a shot. I'd say they'd laugh.

Nice to see everyone's getting their fair share of shocking weather! Blackpool yesterday was surprisingly sunny, just hope Anfield on Tuesday night will be more successful than the first attempt a couple of weeks back! MREGAN - I've been up to Parkhead myself before, just the once so far, for an International...the noise there was awesome, although I have a feeling the seats in the stand were a more comfortable place to shoot from than the standing dugouts the togs were assigned!

Ahhh - Gavin, our very own Stato! ;) Impressed with the knowledge there and I suppose yes - you are correct! Other trivia fact is that Chester have previously been removed from the cup around 100 years ago for having too short a pitch!

Anyway, to answer your question....Sun? Its a paper with 2 very interesting "articles" most day on the 3rd page......apparently!

Can't quite remember the workflow I did on these (I was dodging bits of sausage that some little ****er was throwing at me from the stand so wasn't entirely concentrating!), however I think I started running NN on these around ISO800 as it seemed to be showing up quite badly. I was trying new settings that I found tucked away on Sportsshooter the other day which are giving less plastic looks (or not as it seems!!).

Rob - hope you are fully weather proofed!! Saw some of the photos in the papers today and it looked horrible there! Some nice images of yours though on the camerasport pages from yesterday though!

As for the sun - I thought it was supposed to be grim up north, not down south!!

Thanks Mark. Never been up for the football (was in Glasgow just before Christmas for a stag do, however thats all a little hazy!). the 18-55 must enable you to get some good stadium shots though I'd assume?

I always work on the saying of don't ask, don't get - could always ask them, worst they could do is laugh!!

Si - good luck for Tuesday, will be an interesting game, especially given yesterday's result!! Hope the fog stays away, although you did get some nice pics from you last trip there in the fog!

Yeah but then you get some nutter jumping about infront of you with his head in the shot. The Photographers dug out is only at one side. Down my end they are all on their knees behind the advertising boards.

That is a good point I think I might give it a go next match day.

This one is from Hampden Park a few years ago when Celtic Beat Dundee Utd 1-0 This was just before kick off with the famous Huddle. I like the fact I got the year in on the score board in the stands behind. What do you think?

Thats a nice shot Mark - would possibly suggest a slightly small aperture setting (being pedantic now aren't I) but its a well exposed pic and the variety of colours works well too.

Really nice images Paul, 2, 4 and 6 are great.

I'm stick in the middle of nowhere (Stone) at a training course so I can get my pictures up from the basketball on Sunday. The paper went with 5, 2 of which are going into their sister paper. Makes all the hard work worth it. I had to drive around for about 2 hours trying to find a wireless point. I find one 'wink wink' so at least I could get my images to the paper.

Hope there are no readers of this forum from Stone or you might not get out of the middle of nowhere alive!!!

Thanks for the comments Darren - #6 has just turned into one of those portfolio shots where short of having strange string of requests for a pic of Gary Roberts, it is just a nice use of backlighting!!

#2 or #3 I think, from an initial conversation with my picture editor, are being used for a few back pages around the newspaper group. However until it does actually physically appear I will resist the urge to celebrate!!

Looking forward to the hoops shots - did you have a good time at the NIA? As for the wireless point....McDonalds! Or Starbucks if you are feeling healthy!!

Thanks Paul, the arena only had Dialup access and I forgot my dialup cable, I stayed with friends in brum on Sunday evening and they don't even have a PC and none of their neighbours have broadband I could borrow. It was not a great location in brum so I did not really want to go on a mini adventure trying to find an access point so I waited until I got to my hotel on Monday morning, assuming that it would have wireless. Nope Dialup only. I drove round for hours trying to find an access point in and around stone. Finally *found* one at the rear corner of a Shell car park. Thank god for that. If I were on a tight dealine, I would have struggled without a 3g card. The pictures can be seen here https://photography-on-the.net …thread.php?t=260926Darren
