Can you ID this bird for me??

There was 2 of these in the tree outside my window this morning making a god awful noise & I could hear the snap & clash of beaks as the magpies dove in & out like stukas.

No idea what they are, but at 6:30am, I didn't really care, I just wanted them to go away & let me go back to sleep

As for the quality of the shots, well, I make no claims about that, I've never claimed to be a wildlife photographer

But more importantly, what are they?? Why do the maggies hate them so??

I'm no expert, just have a really good book but, if you're in the top part of Australia or down the east coast it could be a Channel-billed Cuckoo - it's the nearest thing I can find.
