Canon should make new firmware for their compact cameras

I feel they should fix their cameras so we don't hace to crop my files to print 4x6. It's so annoying to have to crop to print in 4x6. Here they are putting out all these personal printers to print 4x6 at home, yet, you still have to crop.

Fuji has a setting for 4x6, why can't Canon do this for us?

Yes, but your DSLR is in the wrong format for 5x7, 6x8, 8x10, 11x14, 16x20 . . . Cropping's a fact of life. If I want an 8x10, I waste less of my A620's image than of my 5D's image in cropping to fit. So should I complain about my 5D?

They should offer a ratio for each of the popular sizes. Of course, through the viewfinder it will be tough to set up the composition for all the different ratios. Whereas, point and shoot compact are generally composed through the LCD with can be configured into the cameras programming.

Many recent Canon compact cameras have 3:2 image ratio - A710, A630/A640, SD800/SD900.

And of course you always know in advance what the only size print you're going to make is? Thanks - I'll use the full sensor and decide on the print format later. That way I get more pixels to choose from.

99.9% of the time I print 4x6. Which is why I mostly use my DSLR. I'm speaking more for the novice that can never figure out why heads get chopped off.
