A quick test confirmed that what shows on the screen won't be amazing quality, but 20 inches is a hell of a lot better than 2 inches, and it does serve as a sort of better preview screen. FWIW, my dell monitor will support something like up to 1900X1200... And an attached image of the back...

The monitor could take the 480i signal and combine the frames to one progressive 480 line view, but nowhere near the 1200 that your monitor supports. I'm still curious to see how it looks on your monitor though. Like you said, it's better than a 2" LCD, and zoomed in all the way it might be easier to see if you nailed the focus or not.

Can you post a sample shot of the image displayed on the LCD?

I might, but I'd have to use a *GASP* Non Canon P&S... Gime a few minutes

That looks WAAAAAY better than I expected. Thanks for posting it.

Is that the 24" Dell Ultrasharp? It looks a lot bigger than the 20 in that pic. I've been thinking about upgrading my 19" Viewsonic LCD to the Dell 24" or maybe the 30". I'm using a video card that can drive the 30" at the ultra high res (2560x1600), but it's still around $1300.

Unfortunately, it's only the humble 20 incher, but it's good for what I needed it for... anything bigger than the 9 inch screen That I was using before. IF money had permitted, the 24 would've been the choice, but my built in video card can't pump out enough to make it worth while... I'm only running 1024x768... Maybe I'll upgrade when I build a pc or upgrade to Apple... Car, camera, computer is the order of things to buy...
