I am almost 100% decided that I will purchase a PowerShot A710is as my next digital camera, my next decision is what to purchase as the memory card (SD format).

I believe that 2GB capacity will suit me just fine. If I am on an extended trip without a chance to download my pics to a computer I can always carry an extra card or two, so 4GB isn't necessary.

The only issue that I am not quite sure about is card speed. Shopping online at Staples.ca I have found one 2GB card (external link) (with reader, although I don't need the reader) for $54.98 CDN, and another 2GB card (external link) for $129.76 CDN, and another 2GB card (external link) for $109.84 CDN. I assume the biggest difference is transfer speed. The only one that clearly says what speed it is is the most expensive one (60x).

Does my camera require a certain speed to take quality video, or rapidly successive high-res pics, or will even the most basic SD card suffice for the PS A710is?

Also, does make or model of SD card matter much?

Thanks so much for any help, and I hope the links to each card work...

My A620 shoots 640x480x30fps video unimpeded on either SanDisk blue or Ultra II cards, and I'd be simply astonished if the A710 couldn't also, since video resolution's the same for both. I rely on SanDisk cards across the board.
