I have the 16-35 2.8 L and the 24-70 2.8 L and use them at every wedding. I have heard excellent reports on the new 17-55. It'll be my next lens.

I wouldn't recommend shooting a wedding without a 2nd body. I get nervous for those that do.

Whooaaa!!! I never said I'd shot without a 2nd body, what I said was 'if I'd had a 2nd body with the 70-200 mounted', which I didn't have at the time, the other body had the 10-20 fitted. I grabbed the wifes camera for the shot (fitted with the 24-70, as I explained). So that's 2 of us with 3 cameras between us and I'm only charging for me - I can't see how that leaves me unprepared.

There are a few people round here far too ready to point fingers.

Thanks too to Linarms for pointing that out.:)

Just got the 17-55/2.8 IS and I am totally in love with it!!! Even if it's an EF-S lens it feels sturdy enough to be a work horse, and a great reason to have a 1.6x crop body (I'm dreaming of a 5D but not in my budget yet).
