Just started photography last summer when I bought a 350D. This is one of my first pictures of my son from last summer. Let me know what you think.

I like it! Did you apply a gradient to frame the subject more or was it in the original.

I think this is a terrific shot! The focus is spot on without that fakey overly sharpened look that you sometimes see. What a cutie... love those freckles!

Most important, Dust, welcome to potn!

Exposure! Sharpness! Pose! Filled the frame! I've seen stuff from professionals that was not this good! Excellent. And this is your first picture? If it were mine, I might shave just a little off the top in a crop, but it's one of those "play with it and see" things. Good stuff. /Dan

It's great. Did you do post processing to get that halo effect?

Thanks for all the comments.

I think this one has to go down as beginners luck on the composition and sharpness of the image. As I said I was new to photography at this point and didn't know that much. I have been playing around with photoshop for a few years making wallpapers and stuff so that has helped me.

I did some sharpening, levels and other stuff in Photoshop before adding a fading border around the ouside edge to create the halo effect.
