Every year for christmas my family goes to Florence Oregon to the (supposedly nationally reknowed) sand dunes. Decided to bring the 30d and get some shots. So here are a few from that trip... Let me know what you think. Any advice to improve is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Your 3rd photo is the best.

Is it just the tighter crop that makes it?

Nope. Proper exposure, that's all.... No perfect cropping can beat perfect exposure....

Oh, another thing, I think your last photo could definitely benefit from some minor PP.

Love the Oregon Dunes. Nice to see some sand shots out here.

Looks like you had a nice day. Love number 3. These type of shots benefit greatly from shooting tight, and getting low to the ground to help put the ride in perspective. Shooting in the harsh sun on the sand can take some practice to capture that exposure you are looking for....

cheers,
toad

That kinda depends on how trusting I am of my brother, and if he is mad at me :)...

I have noticed that it is hard, I went for spot metering to try and expose my brothers dark clothes and darker plastics. Oh well, now I have an excuse to go riding more to get more practice :).
