Alright I will be going to europe very soon and I figure I should snag a new lens before I go. I currenty has the xt with the kit lens, 75-300mm,50mm 1.8f lens. Iam stuck between a couple of lenses the Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 EX DC ($339), the Tamron SP AF 17-35mm f2.8-4 Di LD Aspherical (IF) Ultra Wide-Angle Zoom ($299) or the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro ($325)

In this price range and what's in the market currently, I'd opt for the Tamron 17-50 f2.8. So none of the above. But you've stated some good lenses.

None of the above. I'd get a Tamron 17-50.

I just got a Sigma 17-70 ($340), and so far I have been very impressed. I haven't had a chance for much in the way of field tests, but the shots I have done were great.

Everybody got mixed feelings about the function and the form.
Everybody got to elevate from the norm.

I have the 17-35 and love it though i do find it a bit short sometimes, but they i just use the 50mm prime so not a huge deal for me. It just depends on whether you want to change lenses.
Cheers,
Riley

even though the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro is a macro....? Its fine for regular photography too right?

It's not a true macro. It does allow close focusing to about 8", resulting in between 40% and 50% of life size. It is primarily a lens for "regular" photography.
