Way to go! That's what I did. I am not concerned about a new version of the 5D because I am plenty pleased with the current model.

Have a great time. Post some ducks!:D

Congrats. I'm jealous. I was eyeing the 5D this weekend....only $3500 for just the body. Oh, how I wish I had a lucky lottery ticket :)

I hope you post some shots from it. I'd love to see what is can do.

B&H has the 5D for roughly $2700. double the rebates minus $600 -- that makes it $2100! a heck of a deal! :) i ordered it today with overnight shipping, ill post some pics tomorrow! :D

Not bad...I'm itching to get one but I have to wait until this fiscal year ends for work - which is June. Maybe somethng new and improved will be out by then...if not, maybe the 5D will be cheaper.

I'm just curious, beside the grip, what else did you order to get the double rebate?

Santa was very nice to you! The 70-200 f/2.8 IS was my first L lens and is probably still my favorite. It is simply outstanding in every way.

I'm getting close to ordering a 5D this week (before the rebates end). If I do, I'll probably order the 17-40L to go with it since I don't have a good lens with a focal length less than 28mm.

Enjoy your new gear!

The 17-40 on a 5D is very wide! Mine works even better on the 5D than it ever did on the 350D I still have and use.

Enjoy!

Congrats on the camera! I keep seeing people post with how they just got a 5D. I wish I could actually afford one...

I did the same thing. I sold my 20D and my 100-400L. I kept my 30D with my 70-200 2.8 IS with the 1.4x II converter to make up for the price. I found that most of the time I was using my 100-400 at around 300mm. Hopefully the 5D will keep me from missing it. I will have the 5D for wide shots, portraits and wedding work and the 30D for sports and zoom work.
