I know Quantaray is a cheap brand, and everything.. so this really got me thinking..

I think what you're seeing is the filter.

Wow that scared me. :eek:

But after a second look I agree. I think the lens assembly is upside down. Looks like a filter is mounted to the lens and the the lens hood adaptor is mounted to the filter.
