We met at 3pm. Not much light, very rainy, so we went to the Conservatory to snap a few photos. This was the very first time I'd met them as they booked from out of town. Lovely folk, he's a bit camera shy. Usually we'd have coffee first, but the light was fading....cc welcomed.

Not underexposed (on my computer and with a histogram check), but soft when resized for web yes. Full-sized they are sharp.

I like number 3 the best! But they're all amazing...especially given the low light! Great work!

First thoughts are that your on-camera flash isn't great, and that they might have a bit much flash. I'd go for fill flash, not flash as main light if you're using on-camera flash. Also look at your B&W conversion method. Also give your composition a little thought, rule of thirds and central composition are good but be a bit creative, even if it's done in post by cropping.

Thanks Tim - I brightened them up a little in post-processing (maybe a little too much?) as I quite like the look. I find Vancouver's winter very very dreary - it's 10am now and barely light, and it'll be dark by 4ish. Sux.
The main problem I had was that commercial photography is not permitted in the Conservatory (unless outside of hours and for a huge fee) so we were being very low key and discreet. I found it really really hard to get anything dynamic at all. I would usually want more movement and fluidity in the shots.
I think they turned out ok, and the couple are happy with them, but as a set they are just a little boring.
Suggestions on improving them or for next time are appreciated.
