Challenge #53 - Energy!

I think holidays are exhausting, so I'd like to see some shot with ENERGY in them to pep me up! It can be pure or abstract energy, potential or active, use your imagination! Energy gives the power to get something or someone moving, or to achieve a reaction. You can also capture an image of Energy being used/created, but it must still represent the power within.

Don't be afraid to comment/explain your photo! Help me understand your point of view...

Any question, don't be afraid to ask by sending me a private message. Don't forget the rules (read below!), and remember to have fun!

_______________

To submit, click "Post Reply" and put your Photo Name in the Subject Line. Don't forget your Camera Model.

Post until Monday noon GMT, January 15 2007.

Photo Submissions

1. Camera -- Any Canon Powershot Series Camera (SD, A-series, S1/2, & S-series only...No Pro 1's!!!)

2. Time -- any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.

3. Size -- Photo must be EXACTLY 800 pixels on the longest side and no more than 200K in size with NO BORDERS. Here is some help for resizing your photos in Photoshop - https://photography-on-the.net/forum/...9&postcount=26

4. Post-Processing -- do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

5. Posting --

#51 was "Power." Since the words are synonyms could you give us (probably just me) a little more about what you are after? I'm sooooo confused.

Main Entry: en·er·gy

IMAGE: http://www.m-w.com/images/audio.gif
Pronunciation: 'e-n&r-jE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -gies
Etymology: Late Latin energia, from Greek energeia activity, from energos active, from en in + ergon work -- more at WORK (external link)
1 a : dynamic quality <narrative energy> b : the capacity of acting or being active <intellectual energy> c : a usually positive spiritual force <the energy flowing through all people>
2 : vigorous exertion of power : EFFORT (external link) <investing time and energy>
3 : a fundamental entity of nature that is transferred between parts of a system in the production of physical change within the system and usually regarded as the capacity for doing work
4 : usable power (as heat or electricity); also : the resources for producing such power
synonym see POWER (external link)

Hello Paul -

I'm not Jeece but think of this...

Five 4 year old yard apes is a lot of ENERGY, not power.

Regards,
GEWB

Something in motion is energy. Electricity, water, hydraulic, are all forms of energy. Spring energy. Wind energy :P Energizer :P

Atleast this is what I think of for energy.

Paul:  I haven't thought of the ressemblance of both themes. In my mind, power=Dodge Viper while energy=gasoline. A pic of a Viper spending its energy fits both topics. :D

Gewb (and Gerald): I couldn't have said it better myself, excellent examples. Energy can also be what gives the "power" to get gowing... A stimulant, a source of power... ;)

I think it's a good contest. I am delaying my own entry to make sure I have one worthy, and who knows what may come up between now and the end :D

I say leave the topic as is. You will see some entries come in (they always do). I know you will see at least one - mine. Let the winners choose what they want, even if it is a repeat or close to it. They earned getting to choose the topic.

Potential Energy

Potential energy of this kid = mass * gravitational force * height of the object
Stored energy in this kid = endless

Taken in my unfinished dimly lit basement with a Canon A610 in auto mode about a year ago.

Taken with my A620. Two bodyboarders on the receiving end of the Atlantic Ocean's energy, on the south coast of Portugal.

HIDDEN LIFE AT WINTER SEASON

Hi all.

This is my very first photo here. I am an amateur, and my A540 Canon camera is my second digital camera (first was a crappy "EXACTA DC22" good-for-nothing camera).

HIDDEN LIFE AT WINTER SEASON
The issue is to see the incredible life & energy beneath the winter that will arise again in spring time, to retouch an old photo from 2006 and most of all to participate!
