Hi Guys:

I love the new Photoshop CS and the ability to work with RAW files. But, I have found that when I open a RAW inage in the program, it looks unsaturated, and bland. I tried converting an image with no adjustments, and compared to the Canon software converted image, it looks bad. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Thanks

the Canon Raw converter does little more than allow you to alter the processing parameters much as they are set up in the Camera i.e. it is not very versatile.

CS RC is the opposite, it is very versatile so you will need to tweak exposure and shadow settings, I also apply some sharpening, not much etc. In CS itself, crop to size and then re-balance levels as needed. I tend to push up saturation by about 10 and often pull down the brightness a tad and push contrast a tad (3 or 4). The results on print are astounding.
