I am getting ready for a dedicated photo trip to the Moab, UT area. I am trying to decide if should spend the money on a couple of GND's or pick up software to do some HDR's. Any thoughts?

I'm of the school of thought that it's much better to get the image as close as you envision in-camera, on scene. You'll find a lot of use for GND's in landscape work.

However the blending can also be done with 2 exposures quite well. Canon 6D, 1DmkII, IR modified 5DII with lots of Canon L, TSE and Zeiss ZE lenses

I am going to order a couple of GND's and take a few sets with HDR in mind. Then I can decide what works best for me. 5D : 40D : 17-40 F/4L : 24-105 F/4L : 50 F/1.2L : 70-200 F/2.8L

I've seen many over-processed photos made using the HDR technique. Too easy to end up with a flat looking HDR image.
